Chainsaw Art

Mark Rice,  Tree Artist completed his chainsaw artwork in front of the Sanford Civic Center located at 401 E. Seminole Boulevard on March 31, 2022,. This project was funded through the Parks and Recreation Department’s repair and maintenance budget. The chainsaw art is a monument to our City’s history and some of the wildlife you see along the shores and wooded areas of the St. Johns River. Mr. Rice spent thirteen days carving the new attraction.  Mark Rice said “I loved all of the attention from the visitors and residents of Sanford. Everyone was kind and very supportive of the work.”

Next time you are downtown or walking along the Riverwalk, stop by and take some pictures with the art. It is there for all to enjoy. The City’s Public Art Commission and the Parks and Recreation Department thank the artist for his creativity and attention to detail.  Stop by and visit this great new attraction for the City of Sanford.
